Ethics: Keeping Our Government Close to the People
It is crucial that Arkansans feel that their government is not for sale. While lobbyists are often vitally important to the legislative process because of the information that they can provide legislators, we should lower the limit on the size of items of value—including meals—provided to legislators. We should also work to stop the revolving door between the legislature and lobbying by barring former legislators from lobbying their former colleagues for at least one year after the end of their term in office.
To promote the engagement in the democratic process by rank-and-file Arkansans, Jay will work to expand the tax credit for campaign donations from the present $50 to $100 to make it easier for Arkansans of all means to show their support for candidates for state office.
As the campaign proceeds, check back for more updates on Jay’s views on the key issues facing Arkansas in the 21st century.
If you have concerns about a particular issue, please contact the campaign and Jay will provide you his thoughts.
