Equality before the law is the hallmark of the American system. Promoting civil rights has been at the forefront of Jay’s advocacy work in Arkansas and such work will also define him as a member of the State Senate. As a State Senator Jay will do everything he can to oppose any law that permits discrimination in any form. He will also lead the fight for Arkansas to finally ratify the federal Equal Rights Amendment. Jay knows that maintaining control over reproductive choices is also a vital element of women’s equality. Some of those battles will not be easy ones, but Jay will stand up for the principle of equality.
