Elections: Creating an Election System for the 21st Century
A healthy election system is at the heart of democracy. Jay can also be a leader in developing an election system for the 21st century in Arkansas because of his expertise in elections and voting procedures. It is an area in which he has published a number of articles, including works on early voting and the use of different voting methods in Arkansas. In the state Senate, Jay will have as one of his priorities the establishment of policies that will expand access to early voting and will also make appropriate use of new technologies to make voting easier for Arkansans. We must also enlarge the number of workers at polling places and be ensured that they are fully trained to provide for smooth elections. It is also crucial for the state to develop innovative policies that will encourage voter turnout, especially among young voters. He will also work to streamline the return to voting for those who have been felons but have completed their penalty for those crimes.
